We don’t use fragrance oils, artificial thickeners or parabens. Instead, we use carefully sourced pure essential oils, high quality cold/expeller-pressed non-gmo carrier oils, wildcrafted or organic herbs and grains and naturally occurring emulsifiers like local, wild-crafted beeswax, and natural preservatives like Vitamin E and citrus seed extract.
We choose our ingredients and essential oils both for their properties, and because we like the way they smell, taste and feel!
Alkanet: This biennial is cultivated for its natural dye, which is used to add a lovely reddish-pink tinge to skin care products. It is also said to be anti-inflammatory, good for bruising and muscle sprains.
Almond Oil: Nutritious oil, high in Vitamin E; helps skin to retain moisture; very lubricating.
Aloe Vera: Regenerating, soothing, softening and reparative. Very healing and moisturizing; rich in over 200 nutrients.
Amber: Soothing, warming and comforting, amber is a semi-solid mass of tree resins or gums mixed with essential oils, beeswax and fragrant plant powders.
Bay Leaf: Stimulating and warming.
Beeswax: Natural thickener and emulsifier.
Bergamot: Refreshing, uplifting and antiseptic. Good for soothing skin irritations and calming for upset, inflamed skin.
Calendula: Contains carotenoids that nourish the skin, as well as healing, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and life force enhancing properties. Supports skin & connective tissue; soothing for irritated, dry skin.
Canola Oil: Nutritious oil, high in Vitamin E; helps skin to retain moisture; very lubricating.
Carrot Oil: Anti-oxidant, regenerating, and protective. Rich in carotenoids. Natural colorant.
Chamomile: Soothing, anti-inflammatory and relaxing, it is healing for inflamed skin.
Chick Pea Flour: Make from garbanzo beans, which are believed to be one of the oldest cultivated beans, dating as far back as 5400 BC. Protein-laden, cleansing and great for toning oily skin.
Chocolate: Made from the seeds of the tropical cacao tree, it is a stimulating, romantic and psychoactive food, long held as a subtle aphrodisiac.
Cinnamon: Made from the inner bark of a tropical evergreen tree, it is highly aromatic, warm and spicy. Known for aphrodisiacal, as well as anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
Clove Bud: Distilled from flower buds, it has a spicy, fruity, warm and sweet aroma. Antiseptic, warming & soothing.
Cocoa Butter: Non-drying; will not clog pores. Seals in moisture; very skin softening and nourishing. Helps to reduce wrinkles.
Coconut Milk: Cleansing, emollient; skin smoother.
Coconut Oil: Unusually rich in fatty acids, it is a very emollient skin conditioner that is soothing, moisturizing, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-protozoal.
Cornmeal: Nutrient rich, high in niacin, minerals and linoleic acid, it makes a nourishing, gentle exfoliant.
Cypress: Astringent, toning and restoring with a fresh, herbaceous, slightly woody evergreen aroma.
Damiana: The leaves of this small shrub have been used throughout the centuries as an aphrodisiac. Contains stimulating properties that act directly on the reproductive organs, also known as a mild euphoric.
Geranium: Delightfully fresh and flowery, it is balancing, stabilizing and nurturing to mind and body.
Hemp Oil: High in essential fatty acids, hemp oil is touted as nature’s most perfect oil. Contains all 20 amino acids, including the 9 our bodies are unable to produce. Outrageously nutritious, hemp oil works wonders for dry, damaged and mature skin.
Honey: Helps skin retain its own natural moisture (humectant); wonderfully regenerative properties. Excellent skin conditioner; gently cleanses, soothes, softens and heals skin. Anti-bacterial.
Jasmine: A simply intoxicating oil produced from jasmine blossoms. Seductive and beautiful, jasmine oil is uplifting and stimulating. When used in skin care, it is good for dry or oily skin , and can be used for skin conditions such as excema.
Jojoba Oil: Jojoba is actually a liquid plant wax, made from the beans of a shrub-like plant, simmondsia chinensis. The closest oil to natural human sebum, it has advanced molecular stability and is an emollient, moisturizing humectant.
Labdanum: Rich, warm and spicy. Cleansing, astringent properties; skin reparative-promotes rapid healing. Anti-spasmodic.
Ladies Mantle: The flowers of this perennial are used for their medicinal properties. Prized as a “wound herb” it has astringent and styptic properties. Stimulating and toning, it is anti-inflammatory and healing. Used in skin care to firm and tone, soften and regenerate skin by aiding collagen and peptide production.
Lavender: Cleansing, astringent properties; skin reparative-promotes rapid healing. Anti-spasmodic.
Lemon: Astringent, toning properties. Exfoliates and removes oil. High in Citric Acid and Vitamin C. Restores skins natural acid balance.
Lemon Grass: Astringent; stimulating, refreshing. Exfoliates and removes oil. High in Citric Acid and Vitamin C.
Mint: (Spearmint and Peppermint) Anti-inflammatory, cooling, antiseptic and astringent. Detoxifies and clarifies skin; refreshing and revitalizing.
Myrrh: Hot, pungent and spicy, it has been used throughout the centuries in perfumery and for its ability to preserve the skin. Has antiseptic, astringent, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.
Neroli: Distilled from the freshly-picked blossoms of the Bitter Orange Tree, this exotic floral is rejuvenating, relaxing and restoring. Excellent skin care oil that encourages new cell growth; good for mature skin. Has antiseptic properties. Anti-spasmodic.
Oats: Mild exfoliant; soothes, softens, deep cleanses, balances pigmentation, tones. High in Vitamins B and E.
Olive Oil: Emollient, restorative, soothing, mild, cleansing and very moisturizing. Softens, and helps skin hold in moisture while allowing the skin to breathe.
Orange (Sweet): Antiseptic and aromatic, uplifting, reviving and stimulating.
Orange Peel: Aromatic, uplifting, reviving and purifying.
Papaya: Enzymatic exfoliant and conditioner. Contains protein, Vitamins A & C and digesting enzyme “Papain”.
Patchouli: Antiseptic, deodorizing and very sensual. Highly valued for dry, itchy or mature skin.
Petitgrain: Obtained from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, this relaxing, refreshing and rejuvenating oil is lightly reminiscent of neroli.
Rice Bran: Nutritious, light-brown layer that covers the rice kernel, full of potent vitamins and antioxidants that cleanse, tone, tighten, and regenerate skin. Rich in oil, it makes an effective exfoliant and contains phytic acid, a B-complex vitamin that seems to help improve blood circulation and stimulate cell turnover when used topically. Good for pigment balancing.
Rose Otto (Rosa Damascena): Healing, balancing, romantic and pleasure-inducing, rose otto is the highest quality rose distillation. Also the highest frequency essential oil, its fragrant molecules are very quickly taken up by the olfactory system. Excellent in skin care for dry, mature and aging skin.
Rosemary: Very herbaceous and stimulating, has astringent and toning properties. Increases circulation, great for tired feet and jumpy legs.
Sage: Spicy, sharp, very herbaceous. This antiseptic, astringent oil is penetrating and powerful, uplifting and vitalizing.
Sandalwood: Possessing a relaxing, sensual and soothing woody fragrance, it is the perfect moisturizing oil to use in skin care for all types of skin, and is especially nourishing to dry or mature skin. Happily, Indonesian and Australian Sandalwood is being cultivated to help combat the over-harvesting of the Indian sandalwood tree.
Shea Butter: Extremely therapeutic; helps cracked, aged or damaged skin. Heavy butter penetrates skin leaving it soft and smooth.
St. John’s Wort: These bright yellow flowers of a shrub-like perennial contain numerous therapeutic substances. Increases blood flow and circulation; calming. Great for sore muscles and particularly effective when applied topically (in the form of an ointment) for the treatment of burns, cuts, scrapes, stretch marks and minor skin irritations.
Tangerine: Fresh, sweet, citrusy. Uplifting, antibacterial, reviving and stimulating.
Tea Tree: Warm, spicy and medicinal, it is antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-viral. Highly effective bactericide. Good for most skin conditions, including acne.
Vegetable Glycerine: A clear, colorless, and odorless liquid with an incredibly sweet taste, having the consistency of thick syrup. Made when a raw ingredient (usually palm or coconut oil) is split into crude glycerol fats, under the combined action of water, temperature and pressure. Its naturally occurring emollient like properties soften and soothe the skin and assists the outer epidermis in retaining moisture.
Violet Flower: Used by the Greeks in love potions, these sweet smelling and romantic flowers are good for medicinal purposes, being rich in vitamins A & C. High in salicylic acid (found in aspirin) violet flowers are used for treating bruises, and are used in herbal medicinals for breast cancer treatment.
Witch Hazel: Making its beginning as a flowering shrub, it contains exceptional cleansing, soothing, and healing properties. Astringent and anti-inflammatory, great for oily and troubled skin.
Ylang-Ylang: Sensual, relaxing and balancing, this sweet, exotic floral is uplifting and romantic.
Yogurt: Antibacterial and anti-fungal, good for naturally restoring PH. Emollient, skin conditioner, gentle cleanser and mild exfoliant. High in riboflavin (good for skin health), calcium, protein, Vitamin B12 (for skin toning) and lactic acid.
